AHA RELEASES 2d QUARTER 2010 RACTrac RESULTS
|
AHA has released the full report on the 2d Quarter 2010 findings from the national RACTrac survey. The highlights of that survey were presented by Vice President Elizabeth Baskett on September 13 at the Fourth National Medicare RAC Summit. The full survey document is here.

CMS RELEASES SPA FORM RE STATE MEDICAID RACs
|
In the September 10, 2010 Federal Register CMS published a notice regarding a State Plan Preprint for Medicaid Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs) that States can use to attest to their having estbalished a Medicaid RAC by December 31, 2010: "States may submit, to CMS, a State Plan Amendment (SPA) attesting that they will establish a Medicaid RAC program. States have broad discretion regarding the Medicaid RAC program design and the number of entities with which they elect to contract." Click here for the full text (see item #3).

CMS RELEASES DRAFT RULE ON FRAUD AND ABUSE
|
As noted by Deputy Administrator Peter Budetti, MD, JD in his keynote address at the Fourth Medicare RAC Summit, CMS will be engaging in a very proactive campaign against fraud and abuse under new PPACA authorities. A draft rule was published in the Federal Register on September 23, 2010 and can be accessed here.

RAC SUMMIT APPROVED FOR 12 PHIA CEUs
|
This program meets the required guidelines for continuing education units through the Professional Healthcare Institute of America (PHIA) and has been approved for 12 CEUs. Certificates will be issued onsite. Online attendees must enroll in, complete, and successfully pass the final examination for the Medicare RAC Certificate Program in order to earn the 12 CEUs.

RAC SUMMIT APPROVED FOR 12 AAPC CEUs
|
This program has the prior approval of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) for 12 continuing education hours, 6.0 in Core A and 6.0 in Core B. Certificates will be issued onsite. Online attendees must enroll in, complete, and successfully pass the final examination for the Medicare RAC Certificate Program in order to earn the 12 CEUs.
Granting of prior approval in no way constitutes endorsement by the AAPC of the program content or the program sponsor.

THE GROUP REGISTRATION/ONLINE TRAINING ALTERNATIVE
|
By arranging to license online group access to the Summit Medicare RAC Certificate Program, health care providers subject to RAC audits can implement an organization-wide online Certificate Program on preparing for, responding to and appealing a RAC audit. The organization's training coordinator can assign and track online participation. Successful completion of the training can be evidenced by passing the post conference training examination.
